For the past decade I have been working for a disabled people’s support organisation based in Edinburgh. My role has been to provide information and advice around all aspects of Self-Directed Support, and specifically supporting people to employ their own Personal Assistants (PA’s) by helping them advertise, interview and guide through all aspects of ongoing employment responsibilities.

In addition to my above role I have also been working as an associate trainer for the same organisation.

My Associate Trainer role has encompassed the following:

Delivering training for participants with specific needs, consisting of both physical disabilities and learning difficulties as well as individuals with no impairments i.e. unpaid carers and family members.
Delivering a variety of training courses on a range of subjects related to Disability Equality, Living and Work Choices and Personal Assistant Training.
Assisting training managers to develop and implement new training courses and training methods/techniques as required specifically in relation to Disability Equality Training and the Pick and Mix (employer skills) courses.
